Every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, safety, and equal access to opportunities.
Gender equality, child protection, and social inclusion are fundamental to sustainable development. When women and girls are empowered, children are protected, and marginalized groups participate fully in society, communities become healthier, more resilient, and better equipped to address poverty, inequality, conflict, and other development challenges.
Across Ethiopia, many women, girls, children, persons with disabilities, displaced populations, and other vulnerable groups continue to face barriers to protection, education, healthcare, livelihoods, and participation in decision-making. These challenges are often reinforced by harmful social norms, gender inequality, violence, discrimination, poverty, and limited access to essential services.
Since 2009, alignAfrica has partnered with communities, government institutions, schools, civil society organizations, local leaders, women's and youth groups, and development partners to strengthen protection systems, promote gender equality, and advance inclusive development across Ethiopia.
Rather than delivering stand-alone interventions, we strengthen community structures, local institutions, and partnerships that promote equal opportunities, protect vulnerable populations, and create sustainable systems that enable everyone to participate safely and meaningfully in society.
