Across Africa, millions of children, women, and marginalized communities face real, everyday challenges that prevent them from reaching their full potential. These barriers to education, economic opportunity, and social inclusion are made worse by conflict, climate change, and displacement. As a result, people are left struggling without access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
- Children are often trapped in cycles of poverty. Poor education systems, cultural barriers, and child labor rob them of their chance for a brighter future. Without education, these children miss out on the opportunity to break free from poverty, leaving them stuck in an endless loop.
- Women face gender-based violence, limited access to education, and lack of economic independence. Many are excluded from reproductive healthcare and political representation, leaving them with limited autonomy and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
- Youth across Africa struggle with high unemployment, limited skills training, and lack of job opportunities. Conflict forces many to migrate, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation. As a result, many young people are drawn into violence and extremism due to social exclusion and lack of opportunity.

alignAfrica is a grassroots, community-led nonprofit organization with over 15 years of experience empowering marginalized communities across Africa. Our work spans multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, economic development, conflict resolution, and peace-building. At the heart of our approach is the belief that sustainable development is only possible when communities are at the center of decision-making.
Our work is guided by the VIV framework—Village Ownership, Impartation, Learning & Sharing Knowledge, and Partnership & Teamwork. This model focuses on three core principles:
