Humanitarian crises continue to affect millions of people across Ethiopia. Conflict, displacement, drought, floods, disease outbreaks, and other climate-related shocks have disrupted livelihoods, strained essential services, and increased the vulnerability of children, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and host communities.
At alignAfrica, we believe humanitarian action should do more than provide immediate relief. It should protect lives, uphold dignity, strengthen local capacity, and help communities recover and build resilience to future shocks.
Since 2009, alignAfrica has partnered with communities, government institutions, humanitarian actors, UN agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners to deliver timely, inclusive, and locally led humanitarian assistance across Ethiopia.
Our approach follows the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus, ensuring that emergency response contributes to long-term recovery, resilience, and sustainable development. Rather than creating parallel systems, we strengthen local institutions, community structures, and coordination mechanisms that enable communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises.
